...get a road report?
On the map, click the section of road for which you want to get a report. The section will turn blue and the road report will appear below the map.
...find out about the 24 hour road condition threat forecast?
Additional information about what the 24 hour road condition threat forecast is available here. The road report provides details about any relevant threats for a road segment. To view on the map where road condition threats are forecasted, turn on the base layer that includes the 24 Hour Threat Forecast.
...find National Weather Service alert information?
The road report provides details about any National Weather Service watches, warnings, and advisories in effect for a road segment. Links to the messages from the National Weather Service messages regarding the alerts are provided in the road report. To view on the map where such alerts are in effect, turn on the overlay for National Weather Service Alerts. The legend for that overlay includes all active products also for all surrounding states, so not everything listed in the legend may apply within South Dakota.
...zoom in for more detail?
To zoom in, click the Magnifying Glass or a line on the zoom scale in the top left corner of the window. If you double-click a blank part of the map, you will zoom in and re-center the map where you clicked. If you have a mouse with a wheel, you can use the wheel to zoom in and out.
...zoom out for less detail?
To zoom out, click the Magnifying Glass or a line on the zoom scale in the top left corner of the window. If you have a mouse with a wheel, you can use the wheel to zoom in and out.
...move the map (pan)?
Use the arrows in the top left corner to move the map left, right, up, or down. Also, you can "click and hold" to drag the map in any direction.
...show all state highways?
Zoom in to your desired area to see more highways. The lowest zoom shows only major highways, while the highest zoom shows more detail.
...switch between the Road Conditions, Road Conditions including 24 Hour Threat Forecast, and Load Restrictions base layers?
In the top right corner of the window, click the radio button to turn a base layer on or off . Only one base layer may be displayed at any given time.
...turn Temperature, Wind Speed, Radar, and National Weather Service overlays on and off?
In the top right corner of the window, click the radio button to turn an overlay on or off . Only one overlay may be displayed at any given time. Select "None" to turn off all overlays.
...turn Road Work, Disturbances, Incidents/Accidents, Obstructions, Scheduled Events, and Disasters on and off?
In the Legend on the right side of the window, click the checkbox to turn on or off the desired features.
...view camera images?
Click a camera on the map. The images available at that camera will appear below the map. In the display below the map, click an image to enlarge it.
...see weather information from highway camera sites?
Select a camera image to view as described above. In the information table below other details about the site and image, a row for "Weather" is provided. As available, the latest temperature and wind data from that site plus the time of the observation are provided.
